What Is a High Risk Pregnancy?

A pregnancy may be considered high risk when certain medical, pregnancy-related, or other health factors increase the likelihood of complications for the mother or baby. This does not necessarily mean that complications will occur. Instead, it may mean that additional monitoring, specialized medical care, or more frequent follow-up is recommended.

Factors associated with a high-risk pregnancy can include maternal health conditions, pregnancy complications, multiple pregnancies, or a history that requires closer medical supervision.

Bridge Prenatal works alongside your existing healthcare providers to provide an additional layer of support throughout your pregnancy.

Personalized Support During a High-Risk Pregnancy

Managing a high-risk pregnancy may involve more appointments, monitoring, education, and coordination between healthcare professionals. Bridge Prenatal helps make that process easier by bringing additional support into your home when appropriate.

In Home RN Support

Our Care Companion RNs provide in-person assessments and personalized health education. Depending on your care plan, support may include blood pressure checks, mental health screenings, and ongoing communication about your health and well-being.

Remote Pregnancy Monitoring

Bridge Prenatal uses approved pregnancy-monitoring technology to support remote antenatal surveillance when appropriate. Remote monitoring can provide additional information to the care team while allowing expectant mothers to receive certain aspects of their care without unnecessary travel.

Care and Resource Coordination

Health during pregnancy can also be affected by challenges outside the clinical setting. Our Resource Companions and Community Connectors can help eligible patients navigate healthcare services and connect with community resources related to transportation, housing, food, benefits, and other social needs.

A Connected Approach to Maternal Care

High-risk pregnancy care often involves multiple healthcare professionals. Bridge Prenatal focuses on keeping care coordinated by connecting patients with RNs, social workers, doulas, lactation professionals, community resources, and physician oversight based on their individual needs.

Our services are intended to work alongside not replace the prenatal care provided by your obstetrician, maternal-fetal medicine specialist, or other treating healthcare provider.
